Ozark Greenways
Ozark Greenways is a citizens group working to develop a comprehensive network of public greenway trails in Springfield, Missouri.
To preserve and enhance the Ozarks' natural heritage through the development of greenway trails for non-motorized public use, including biking, walking, running and alternative transportation routes.
A section of South Creek Greenway runs through Close Memorial Park along the north side of Lake Drummond. Currently there are over 8 miles of trail on the South Creek Greenway. Close Memorial Park becomes a primary trail head for this greenway since it is in the middle and has restrooms and ample parking in the park.

The Friends of the Garden mission is to "inspire the discovery, understanding and appreciation of nature by creating and maintaining gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park and by supporting the mission of the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center and Park Board."
