Thank you for your commitment to putting forth the physical effort in growing and maintaining the Springfield Botanical Gardens! Please see the spring workday opportunities below:
· This week, March 5-8th, 12pm-4pm meet Mark Berryhill in the Ornamental Grass Garden to help cut back grasses and rake debris to the compost heap near the shrub line.
· Anytime, clean out and cut back old mum debris in the bed along the walk to the lake. Daffodils are coming and snapdragons might still be alive if you cut back the brown tops. Haul debris to the compost heap near the FOG shed, behind the Ornamental Grass and Peony Gardens. (Please contact Katie, below)
· Thursday, March 7 at 9am: Bob Childress needs help assembling the pony rail fence along the drive to Close Memorial Parking lot drive near the Winter Garden.
Hauling rocks from the shed to the garden for a new bed
Putting soil/compost in the bed
Lightly raking the hosta debris out of the beds
Spreading slug pellets
Raking the paths
Planting a large Japanese maple
Weeding the few weeds out of the bed
· Saturday, March: 23: Meet Don and Nancy Schmidt at 8am in the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden to touch up any raking, mulching, pruning before the garden re-opens for the season on March 30th.
