June meeting Missouri Native Plant Society SW MO Chapter Tuesday, June 26th

Our next meeting with be this Tuesday, June 26th at the Botanical Center. The maintenance of the gardens will occupy the first hour at 6 PM. Past efforts of weeding and mulching are paying dividends. We still have tenacious weeds that need our attention. The program at 7 PM will be presented by Bob Ball summarizing our spring field trips.

A reminder, the dues for both the State and Local chapters of MoNPS are due this month. Cost is $15. Indicate that you are a member of the SW Chapter and send your dues to:

In an effort to interact with everyone in the Missouri Native Plant Society, we want to discontinue use of our SW Chapter Facebook group and use the main, statewide group exclusively. The SW Chapter has 187 friends. We very much appreciate your interest in the Missouri Native Plant Society and we hope you’ll “like” that group and keep up with the latest photos, posts, and questions just like you have with the SW group. We are planning a float trip in early July, in hopes of finding a rare monkey flower in extreme SW MO. This would be a new state record if we locate it. Two possibilities are the Eleven Point or Sugar Creek. Details will be determined at the meeting. We will publish the times and locations.

Friends of the Garden would love to have all of the park partners at the Butterfly Festival on July 21 either to visit, be a vendor or volunteer- the 3 v’s. Lots of great things taking shape for this year’s Butterfly Festival! If you want to volunteer to help, contact Cindy Willis at 522-5300 this coming week for times and places. The Butterfly group also has a couple of work days/evenings in the next few weeks to get supplies ready and sorted, and one big group meeting to go over details.
