OUTDOOR INITIATIVES & SUMMER CAMPS OPEN HOUSE

Outdoor Initiatives Community Recreation Supervisor

Outdoor Initiatives & Summer Camps Open House: Come; check out Outdoor Initiatives and Valley Water Mill Park. There will be displays, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, and hiking. The free Dutch Oven Cookery samples are worth the trip in itself. See what upcoming programs O.I. has to offer you: from Archery to Camping, Bat and Cave Awareness to Dutch Oven Cooking, Canoeing – Kayaking to SUP, Environmental Education – Nature to Hiking, Geocaching and much more. ARCHERY

Archery Clinic: Experience Archery Shooting for the first time &/or brush up on your skills under the leadership of MO NASP Archery Instructor(s). Warming station on-site. Outdoor Initiatives Office, 2450 E. Valley Water Mill Road, Valley Water Mill Park. Ages 8 – Adult, June 16, 2012, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. FREE, Registration on-site.

Archery Tournament: Put your eagle-eye archery shooting skills to test in this youth only Archery Tournament under the leadership of MO NASP Archery Instructor(s). Top two winners in each category receive prizes. Outdoor Initiatives Office, 2450 E. Valley Water Mill, Valley Water Mill Park. Ages Youth Div./8 – 15; Adult Div./16 & Up. June 16, 2012, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Fee: $5-Shots/$2. Registration on-site. Questions, (417) 833-8647, email Melvin Johnson mjohnson@springfieldmo.gov

The Friends of the Garden mission is to "inspire the discovery, understanding and appreciation of nature by creating and maintaining gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park and by supporting the mission of the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center and Park Board."
