(Springfield) — The dogs had their day today at the 23rd annual Bark in the Park dog festival today.
The event took place at Nathaniel Greene Close Memorial Park and included a guided dog walk, a talent show for dogs and their families, hands on kids crafts, and a non-profit canine vendor village which included around 21 vendors.
Registration was ten dollars per dog and all proceeds from today’s event go to the Cruse Dog Park which is Springfield’s off-leash dog park.
Anne-Mary McGrath of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board “Cruse dog park is fully funded by donations so it took six years to raise money to open that- a lot of that money went to planting trees and its a hefty amount of money so every little bit helps use get that way”
Bark in the Park is one of three events held by the Dog Park committee each year to benefit Cruse Dog Park.

Got up early before the humidity & heat was too high to take a few flower photos.
Spent around two hours. Funny thing, the VFW AmVets were having a “June Bug Day” (Volkswagen vehicles) about 300 feet away, and had a stereo rocking Lynyrd Skynyrd for the entire time. Since I’m a fan of the music, it was kind of nice LOL.

Great movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”
Note from Bob Kipfer, June 9, 2012
We see 1-2 movies a year. We saw a “must see” movie yesterday, “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”. I think you will enjoy even if some of you “kids” lower the mean age of the audience substantially. I would happily see it again next week. Bob
Directed by John Madden. With Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson. British retirees travel to India to take up residence in what they believe is a newly restored hotel. Less luxurious than its advertisements, the Marigold Hotel nevertheless slowly begins to charm in unexpected ways.
