Free! Botanical Photography Workshop using natural and artificial lighting!

Southwest Missouri Camera Club is offering a free workshop focused on lighting to enhance your botanical photos, both indoors and out. 30 minutes of questions and answers followed by shooting photos both indoors and out. Bring your camera, tripod (if available), walking shoes, your camera manual, and questions on Saturday, May 5th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

One instructor per 5 participants. Limited to a total of twenty people. Another class will be scheduled if needed. Learn how to enter the photo contest co-sponsored by The Friends of the Garden and SWMO Camera Club (

Dan Dulany, Sandra and Don Letson and Sandy Reese from the Camera Club will be offering the seminar at the Botanical Center. Seating is limited, so please reserve your space TODAY by calling the Botanical Center at 417-891-1515. This workshop is designed for adults and teens 15 and older if accompanied by a parent.

The class will be held in the Workshop Studio at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center located in the 114 -acre Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. The Botanical Center is a Springfield-Greene County Parks’ facility and home to the Greene County Extension Center, Master Gardeners of Greene County and the Friends of the Garden.

The Botanical Center and Gardens are becoming a favorite photography location for its dozens of outdoor collection and themed gardens that are developed and maintained by Friends of the Garden and other Park Partners. The gardens are a perfect picture in themselves, but also a wonderful backdrop for marking memorable moments and capturing family photos.

Professional photographers can support the on-going health and maintenance of the beautiful setting by paying the $25/hour photographer’s sitting fee in the Botanical Center Botanical Boutique or joining the Friends of the Garden at the professional level of $150/year.
