The November/December issue of Springfield Conservation Nature Center’s HARBINGER newsletter is on-line now at: http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/southwest/springfield-conservation-nature-center/harbinger-newsletter/resource/harbinger-no-1
The Missouri Department of Conservation is recognizing its 75th anniversary with a year-long celebration beginning this month.
On Friday evening, November 18, view the Springfield-area film premiere of Green Fire—a documentary film about conservationist Aldo Leopold.
If any of you are mushroom hunters, anglers, hunters, trappers, or gatherers, you might be interested in the new, colorful cookbook from the Missouri Department of Conservation titled Cooking Wild in Missouri. The author of the book will be at the nature center on Saturday, November 5, from 10am-12 noon to answer questions from the public and to sign books. Books may be purchased on site for $12 plus tax. These will make great gifts for the outdoors men and women in your life.
These are just two of the events we have planned to include you in the 75th anniversary celebration of your Missouri Department of Conservation. Check the Events page for more details about all of the programs offered.
As a reminder, our winter hours are in effect beginning November 1 and continuing through February 29. The building is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8am-5pm and the area and trails are open daily from 8am-6pm. We will be closed on Thanksgiving to celebrate the holiday with our own families.
